BMW 325iX Tech: Front Driveline

Another bit of tech trivia from the TeamD Garage. There are three bolts of each type and you need them to be identical but 1cm longer. (If I were better organized I would know the lengths!) There is an awesome hardware store in Seattle called Stone Way Hardware that stocks a wide selection of grade 12 metric bolts. Remove the old thin guibo and also the centering plate. Toss those out. Then install the new thicker guibo with your new bolts.

Dang! I went to a load of trouble to have an aluminum spacer fabricated… it’s so thick the driveshaft has to go on before the transfer case goes in(!)(of course I’m concerned about spline lubrication, but I figure I’ve got 30k before I have to consider it). Wish I’d seen this info before I went the other route.
