Today is the last day of the 2008 Alcan Rally. Onward TeamD,
We have readers here from all over. Tomorrow will be the end of the event so I hope this lesson is just on time, like us in the Saab.
Scores are out, here we are. I will cut and paste and edit and take full responsibility for any errors.
Summary:
Overall top ten. Dan Comden and Hans Adomeit of TeamD have 79 points.
Slaloms
Scores are also affected by slalom times, though it’s not clear where those have come in recently. Gordon Ryall posted hottest laps overall in the studded category and I believe both Colin Stenhouse (car #15) and someone in the CR-V (Jim or Siobahn Elder?) shared best times for quickest unstudded lap on Sunday.
I worried some people by saying that I’d stuffed my car on the Alcan ice slalom in Whitehorse and then left you all hanging by headed out to our overnight near Liard Hot Springs which has no internet connectivity, My wife and others were concerned about what it all really meant. The followup to the ice slalom debacle: we each get two chances to drive around a crazy slippery race track on a frozen lake and be the fastest. The goal is to be fastest or be within five seconds of the fastest car. If you’re not then you get penalty points. Sigh.
We are in yet another Dawson, this one in British Columbia. Keeping the windshield clear at speed was a tough job.
Today’s two TSD sections brought some of the scores closer together.
