P1130063 We disappeared for a while. Sorry! We didn’t do a very good job of preparing you, our reading public, about how this Alcan Winter Rally stuff works. In the early days of the Alcan Rally we are in more populated areas, do lots more timed competitive sections and have good access to telephone and internet. Starting on Day 5 of the rally we headed north to less populated areas including day 6 to Inuvik and day 7 to Tuktoyaktuk and Eagle Plains. During these days of the rally there are no timed sections so scores aren’t changing and we’re mostly on the road and being tourists. , for photos of Day 7 and a few from Day 6 that got misplaced.

I hope this brings you up to date with the rally. And thanks for your continued support via comments and emails.

A full week of rally

We’re winding up our seventh day of Alcan fun here in Whitehorse, on the southward leg of the event. Dan Comden and Hans Adomeit of TeamD have 52 points.

Scores are also affected by slalom times, where cars are competing in both studded and unstudded tire classes. A few days ago Gordon Ryall posted the hottest lap overall in the studded category and I can’t yet tell if it was Jim Elder or Ohio Knox who posted the quickest unstudded lap.

It’s late, so any scoring errors are probably my typos or inability to properly read the score sheet handed out tonight. Tomorrow has us running an early morning TSD (scored) section before heading out to the lake for another ice slalom. After that fun we’ll be heading down the Alaska highway where we’ll overnight at Liard River.
